23/07/2018

OPS MASTER PLAN carried out successfully on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th of July 2018 the third electrical samples campaign on board, this time in ports of Malága and Melilla.

The activity -this time performed by High School of Electric Engineers at Madrid Politechnical University (ETSII-UPM)- aimed at knowing precisely electricity demanded by consumers on board. This campaign included samples logged every 5 seconds on active and reactive power, on active and reactive energy, and on voltage and electric frequency. Additionally, this log will allow further progress on research activity led by ETSII-UPM on OPS related power regulation and complementary services.

This electrical samples campaign was carried out on board FORTUNY owned by shipping conpany TRASMEDITERRÁNEA, its main stake holder currently being NAVIERA ARMAS, that is Spanish leader on power supply at berth from the grid, which enables ships shutting down their auxiliary engines to avoid pollution and noise impacts.

This campaign follows second carried out in Port of Pasaia on board AUTOSKY owned by innovative shipping company UECC, where one of the pilot actions of OPS Project will materialize soon.

First campaign was organized on board TINERFE by courtesy of its owner DISTRIBUIDORA MARÍTIMA PETROGÁS SLU during voyage between ports of Algeciras and Motril in April 2017.
