Reached 2020 target share of container fleet being connected to shore-power at Port of Los Angeles!

20/08/2018 OPS Worldwide leading Port of Los Angeles publishes summary report on container vessels connected to shore power during period January-June 2018

During first half of 2018, a total of 363 calls out of 471 of container vessels visiting Port of Los Angeles switched-off auxiliary engines and connected to power grid. This represents 82 %. Port of Los Angeles is subject to California Air Resources Board – CARB regulation whereby emission and corresponding on-board power generation had to be cut-off following these percentages over time:

  • 2012 – 25%
  • 2014 – 50%
  • 2017 – 70%
  • 2020 – 80%
