The Port Authority of Tenerife will not only provide electricity to ships at berth in the Santa Cruz de Tenerife but also, in La Palma and La Gomera. With this strategy, the Port Authority intends to extend the environmental benefits and reduce noise pollution impact on port-city neighbours living close to ports in its administration. This way, as soon as both shipping companies FRED OLSEN and ARMAS adapt their ships to the OPS technology, auxiliary engines can be shut down and take the electric power required on board, form the general electric network.
