The OPS Master Plan project recognizes the commitment of the Port Authority of Motril with the residents of the Port and the ecological transition demanded by the Society

The innovative spirit has made the Port Authority of Motril the leader in the set of Spanish ports by offering this supply of electric power to the fleet that serves the line that connects the Peninsula with the City of Melilla.

The Port Authority has successfully tested the operation of its OPS facility that allows the electrical connection of ships to the general electricity network. In this way, such ships may turn off their auxiliary engines that are used to generate necessary electricity on board.

Residents of the nearby neighborhood of Varadero have thanked the Port Authority of Motril for this innovative effort that will cancel out the sound impact caused by the motors in operation during the stays of the ships at berth.

Other Spanish ports will soon follow the example of Motril, since it is expected that before the end of the year such facilities will be put into operation in the ports of La Palma, San Sebastian de La Gomera and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in the Canary Islands and Pasaia in Euskadi
